Can anyone suggest a good tow vehicle.

Not a £100K RangeRover.

I am looking to get a. 2nd car to pull the trailer around and use as a run around. I am not sure how BIG you need to go??

Might be able to get down from Belfast to the south a bit more regularly!!

Alex LauriePete we towed ours with a 3 series BMW diesel... a decent spec older touring would do the trick. But agree with previous post. Hi-Lux rocks.

Richard O'FlynnGo for a hi-lux. If you want the best for the job. Second hand commercial crew cab, so cheap to tax. Plenty room for everything in the back. Or go with one of the others on the list above. If you just want to look good, spend silly money and not tow half as well. 🙂 remember to put weight in the back of whichever you buy when doing long journeys. 1720 are great at pushing cars off the road. I find 5 gal drums the best as when your finished towing you can pour them out. And fill them with a hose when heading back. 🙂 safe driving.

Neil AngelMerc Vito v6 is what you need plenty of power and space, 5 seats and still loads of space for your kit in the back! I reckon a 1720 on a trailer weighs about 2000kg with sails on board, I don't think a three series can pull that sort of weight!

Stephen MilneYour more than welcome to try my shogun 3.2 and see if it does your job. I regularly tow 3.5 tons with it.

Conor MaguireTowed mine from Holland to Dublin, over the Pennines with a Hilux. Very smooth and stable, even with cross winds. Was able to stow a lot of gear in the cab instead of the boat.

Andrew McLellandI towed mine from Hamble to Howth behind an old coupe Nissan 300zx twin turbo.......! Totally illegal I'm sure but they tow really easily with a decent 4 wheel trailer.....old Isuzu Trooper 3.0 L diesel was good too....
