The Gennaker Cup takes place on the 20th October 2012

Four teams, two from the UK and two from Ireland will be competing in the waters of Cork Harbour for a new challange, The Gennaker Cup. A two versus two team racing format will provide extremley close racing on a short race course that will be situated below Crosshaven’s iconic Camden Fort.

This is the first time the 1720 class has run a team racing event for ladies and it will be a hotly contested competition as top female saliors including past, present and future olympian battle it out on Saturday 20th October.

Representing Irelands Munster region shall be the talented helms of Maria Coleman and Emma Geary and ably crewed by Nicola Kiely, Kate Nagle, Neimh Connolly and Fiona Young. The Leinster Ladies shall be captained by Ireland’s latest Olympic campaigner Diana Kissane who recently entered the femail 470 dinght in preperation to qualify for the Brazilian Olympics in Rio.

A number of berths will be made available for travelling sailors to compete the following day in the 1720 October League Racing alongside owners and regular crew. This will allow all newcomers to the fleet to experience the close racing and exhilarating speed that the 1720 has to offer.
